More than Poetto BeachHere is a short guide to beaches, nature spots, and attractions in South Sardinia that you can reach in less than one hour by car from the suite.
Poetto
Cagliari's main urban beach, Poetto runs for about 8 km along the Gulf of Angels, from Sella del Diavolo toward Quartu Sant'Elena. It is popular year-round for swimming, walking and seaside services, with the city and Molentargius park close by.
Pink Flamingos - Stagno di Molentargius
Molentargius-Saline is a protected wetland and Ramsar site known for large colonies of pink flamingos and many migratory birds. The park combines saltwater and freshwater ponds and is one of the most important urban nature areas in southern Sardinia.
Porto Giunco - Villasimius
Porto Giunco is one of Villasimius' best-known beaches, with fine pale sand and clear turquoise water near the Capo Carbonara marine area. Its shallow, transparent sea and scenic lagoon backdrop make it ideal for long swims and snorkeling.
Punta Molentis - Villasimius
Punta Molentis is a small cove on a granite peninsula inside the Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area. The beach is known for crystal-clear water, Mediterranean scrub and a compact, postcard-like setting with limited summer access.
Costa Rei
Costa Rei is a long sandy coastline on Sardinia's south-east, famous for clear water and wide beaches that stretch for many kilometers. The shallow seabed and open shoreline make it a favorite for families, swimming and water sports.
Scoglio di Peppino
Scoglio di Peppino is the iconic granite rock formation off the Costa Rei area, near the Santa Giusta and Ginestre stretch. It is a well-known scenic landmark and a classic photo spot, especially when the sea is calm and transparent.
Kala'e Moru - Geremeas
Kal'e Moru, between Mari Pintau and Geremeas, has light sand and bright water ranging from turquoise to emerald. Exposed to wind and open sea, it is appreciated by snorkelers and visitors looking for a wilder coastal landscape.
Mari Pintau
The name means "painted sea", and it describes the intense blue-green color of the water in this bay on the Quartu coast. The beach mixes pebbles and sand and is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, with excellent water clarity.
Scivu
Scivu, on the Costa Verde in the Arbus area, is a long golden beach with dunes and protected natural habitats near the WWF oasis. It is strikingly wild and panoramic, though often exposed to Mistral winds and stronger surf.
Piscinas
Piscinas is famous for its monumental dune system, among the highest in Europe, extending inland from the Costa Verde shoreline. The area combines dramatic desert-like scenery, clear sea and traces of Sardinia's historic mining landscape.
Porto Pino
Porto Pino lies in the Gulf of Palmas and is known for long beaches, clear shallow water and the white dunes of Is Arenas Biancas. Behind the coast, Aleppo pine and Mediterranean scrub create one of the most distinctive landscapes in south-west Sardinia.
Tuerredda
Tuerredda is a sheltered cove between Capo Malfatano and Capo Spartivento, often compared to Caribbean beaches for its color. A small islet sits just offshore and the calm, sandy seabed makes the bay excellent for swimming and snorkeling.
Su Giudeu - Chia
Su Giudeu is one of Chia's signature beaches, with a broad white shoreline, shallow water and an islet reachable when the tide is low. Behind the beach, dunes and lagoon environments add ecological value and beautiful sunset views.
Complesso nuragico di Villanovaforru
The Genna Maria Nuragic complex above Villanovaforru is a major Bronze Age archaeological site in Marmilla. Built in a strategic panoramic position, it includes the nuraghe and village remains, now interpreted together with the local archaeological museum.
And the area offers even more beaches, archaeological sites, museums, and day trips from Quartu Sant'Elena.
